I worked with Jonathan at Masterful Construction for my primary bathroom remodel. He was prompt in his communication and led the project well. From demolition to final inspection it took just over two weeks, which exceeded my expectations. The subcontractors they used were professional, clean, and speedy. They left the place looking good. I wouldn't hesitate to use Masterful Construction again, but I probably would work harder to make sure I have chemistry with the designer, who I never gelled with. My understanding is she isn't working with them any longer anyway. That said, the bathroom looks great in the end. Masterful Construction aren't the budget option to remodel, but the process was painless and quick, and at the end of the day, that's exactly what I need.Posted on Yelp
A J.43 days agoMasterful Construction completed remodeling my two 1980's bathrooms recently, and I am so pleased (and incredibly excited to soak in my new tub). Jonathan Mordechai was our project manager, and beginning from the initial estimate, his work stood out from the four competitors I considered. First of all, Jonathan was the only person who noticed the existing water damage in a wall and offered suggestions to remediate it. Secondly, he assumed that the project would be permitted- several other companies encouraged me to bypass permits, which I interpreted as probably shady about the work they'd complete. Jonathan and his team took accurate measurements, suggested materials and solid solutions to foreseeable construction problems, and dealt with vendors when the wrong materials were sent or delayed. The crew was respectful, reliable and cleaned up after the job on a daily basis. Jonathan understood my needs and was a strong communicator. He responded within 30 minutes every single time I had a question (even on the occasional weekend). He went out of his way to earn our confidence, from introducing us to the designer who would work with us, to referring us to previous clients, and even taking us to a job site. They did a beautiful job of rebuilding our shower stall and bathroom flooring as well as a whole house rewire. At first we only planned to renovate one bathroom, but after seeing the progress we decided to continue with the second one as well. Yuvi and the team were consistent and fairly easy to deal with throughout the process. There were the usual construction delays here and there, but nothing that felt out of control or stressful. It was a big undertaking and took a few months, but the end result was worth every bit of the wait. Jonathan, our project manager, made a complicated project manageable. The addition involved pouring a new foundation, framing, electrical, and tying the new roofline into the existing house, and he kept all the different crews and inspections coordinated so things kept moving. He gave us a realistic timeline at the start and actually stuck to it, checking in with us regularly. When the inspector flagged something minor on the electrical, Jonathan had it sorted out within a couple of days instead of letting it stall the whole job. The kitchen and bathroom remodels happened alongside the addition, which we were nervous about, but Jonathan sequenced everything so we weren't without a working kitchen or bathroom for longer than necessary. They ended up remodeling the kitchen and turning an office into a master suite with an ADA bathroom. Jonathan were amazing. Aya A.161 days agoWe bought an old house and decided to turn part of it into a real master suite by adding a new bathroom. We had a general idea of what we wanted, but nothing too clear. When we met Yuvi for the first time, he immediately understood our vision and came up with great ideas and creative ways to make it work within our space. A few days later, Yuvi came back with two detailed quotes and patiently walked us through both options. He answered all our questions and helped us choose what would work best for our home and budget. From there, everything moved smoothly. The permitting took around three weeks, and construction was finished in about two and a half months, right on schedule and with no surprises. We also want to mention Adrian, the designer, who was such a pleasure to work with. He helped us choose all the materials and finishes while staying within our budget. His eye for design and attention to detail made the whole process so much easier and enjoyable. The combination of functionality and style he brought to the project made a huge difference. Throughout the whole process, the crew was respectful, clean, and very professional. They paid attention to every little detail, and it really shows in the final result. Our new master suite looks amazing, and it feels like it has always been part of the house. And their estimate was reasonable in comparison. We had our old shower tiles from the 90's taken out and replaced by Corian because we didn't want to deal with cleaning grout anymore. Nur told us from the start that Corian would take a bit longer to get and installation has to be very precise. He was right. And with the installation also happening during the holidays, there were delays. But after 3 months, we are happy with the results! The workers were very patient, kind and responsive to my questions and me pointing out details to them, and they really delivered with their workmanship. KS Group270 days agoYuval and all his employees and sub contractors were so nice and thorough. All the work is beautiful and safe. They had to move my wheel chair lift and then build a walkway to my door and stairs for the side opposite lift. They also replaced to other sets of stairs and placed a beam where need to support carport roof after moving posts out so I could park in carport with more than one car. The team from Masterful Construction made what could have been extremely stressful(we encountered many unforeseen issues) a great experience. From the beginning, Yuvi and Adrian were professional, prompt, and able to see my vision despite me being all over the place. They were both great at steering me in the right direction to create a finished product that we love- from figuring out where to shop and what to buy to dealing with all the surprises (hello mold...). We could not have had anyone that paid more attention to the details that made the bathroom not only functional, but gorgeous. Yes. Masterful Construction Inc. holds California CSLB License #1 099081 and is fully licensed, bonded, and insured. You can verify our license status, bond, and workers’ compensation coverage at any time on the California Contractors State License Board website (cslb.ca.gov) by searching license number 1 099081 .
We carry general liability and workers’ compensation insurance on every project and provide certificates of insurance to homeowners and HOAs on request.
Do you pull the building permits, or is that my responsibility?
We pull them. As your licensed general contractor, we handle permit applications with the City of San Mateo, San Mateo County, San Francisco DBI, or whichever jurisdiction your property falls under, and we coordinate every required inspection through final sign-off. For ADUs, California state law requires your local agency to approve or deny a complete application within 60 days, with ministerial review and no discretionary hearing or neighbor notification.
Homeowners should never pull their own permit for contractor-performed work, because it makes you the legally responsible party for code compliance.

Can I stay in my home during the remodel?
For a single-bathroom or single-room project, most clients stay in the home. We seal the work area with dust barriers, protect flooring and walkways, and keep at least one bathroom and the kitchen functional wherever possible. For full home remodels, additions that open the roof, or projects requiring a full utility shutdown, we recommend relocating. Your project manager tells you which category your project falls into during the estimate, not after demolition starts.
